Using Excel to enhance Math's and Science- Basic Skills
Microsoft Excel has been in existence for many years now and it has become the benchmark in spreadsheet programs. As such we assume that everyone knows and understands the basics of Excel and can see many applications for it in their classrooms. This is not always the case, many teachers have missed out on basic training in this software and are therefore fearful of using it with their classes and as a result don't know what a valuable tool it can be for understanding math's.
Using Excel is great for seeing patterns and relationships, it is also great for students who understand the mechanics and theory of mathematical processes but get bored with constantly calculating and re calculating and loose accuracy as a result. Excel is a way of applying mathematical analysis to real life situations and it can be done at a very basic level.
This workshop will provide teachers with a compact range of useful skills so that they can confidently use Excel in their Math's and science classes to maximum effect. This workshop is aimed primarily at teachers of years 4- 7 .
Specifically we will :
Apply Excel to a selection of useful practical projects .
Apply basic formulas for addition, subtraction, division and multiplication
Use the copy and Fill functions
Hide and Un-hide sections of our spreadsheet so that the area that is visible makes sense
Apply formatting - conditional formatting, format cells
Use the sort and find functions
Freeze and Un-freeze panes
Insert worksheets and format worksheets for printing.
Creating Graphs.
Add comments to cells.

I can supply 15 laptop computers with Excel loaded , or teachers may use their own computers as required
Using Excel to enhance Math's and Science - Expanded Skills
A more advanced session is also available. In this session we will apply some of the more advanced functions such as SUM IF and LOOKUP tables and hyperlinks etc. Use these features to create your own self correcting quizes for your students and much more! Save time and make class organisation easier.
