STUDENT INCURSION

Web Page Design

During their session students will construct a basic index page using a combination of the "What You See Is What You Get" technique and some basic html code. They will add basic navigation tools to another page and insert images, backgrounds and fonts. You will have the choice of using the EVRSOFT free application or Adobe Dreamweaver. Students will also use Photoshop Elements to edit and reduce image sizes for publishing on their web site. The web pages your students will create are independent of any on-line software and will be fully portable to any server. NOTE -This web site has been built using Adobe Dreamweaver.

By using stand-alone software to construct a web site and by retaining copies of the pages on their personal computers rather than only on the web site server, designers have full flexibility and the re-assurance that their time-consuming web pages won't disappear into the ether in the event of a server failure or lost password

Teachers will undertake the same basic processes as outlined for the student workshop and gain basic competency in building a web site. I will also cover the up-loading to the web server

Suitable For

years – 6 – 10

Session Length –

For Students - Half day minimum due to the number of skills we are employing.

For Teachers - Two hours minimum

Student Skills Required –

Computer experience and competence with a mouse.

Preparation –

Participants should have a collection of digital photos / images that they wish to load onto their web page. We will edit these images during the session


Supplied Equipment

Computers

I supply 15 lap top computers (PC running Windows) with mice and all the relevant software loaded, power boards and extension leads.

I also provide my own Data Projector and any challenge mats and items required for the incursion

For staff training sessions staff can use their own computers or my computers.
