eTrain 2008

Photos from the 2008 eTrain extravaganza at Collingwood Children's Farm. I mentored a group of 10 boys working on the Climate Connections robotics missions

eTrain is a Melbourne Grammar School initiative that brings students and teachers from Melbourne Grammar and surrounding schools together for two days of immersion into ICT based activities

The boys pictured attempted several of the challenges and created some excellent engineering attachments to complement their programming

The robot has just left base carrying the Polar Bear

This robot is lined up in base and is about to move forward to scoop the Carbon into the carbon dump. The strange looking red object is a symbolic storm

At left: Close-up of the carbon attachment with bear attachment

A clever solution to getting all the levees ( the brown beams) to the flood location at once

Above :The boys contemplate the missions

Scissor action "claw" attachment used to pick-up the Ice Buoy it the most forward, with a carbon seeking bay

Following- illustrates another way of mounting the NXT and additional 3rd motor with a claw
